, member of the V.TRIP Group, is a network-centric software development company founded in 2000. Currently it employs 35 computer scientists & engineers with offices in Heraklion (Crete), Athens and Thessaloniki. VTRIP provides products and services in the following fields: (1) Computer and Network Systems: data server systems, mobile network applications and services, data streaming, network security, penetration testing, secure Intranets design and installation, security training for users and administrators, (2) High Performance Computing: Design and installation of high-performance computing systems, and (3) Web information Systems: Design and implementation of large web information systems, web services and SOA.
VTRIP has successfully completed more than 25 EU and national R&TD projects, including: PLASTIC (EU/FP6, implementing security middleware libraries and services as well as applications for mobile B3G devices and networks), NoAH (EU/FP6, for honeypot-based intrusion detection and prevention), INNO-UTILITIES (EU/FP6, for innovation-friendly, public procurement & fighting against telecommunications fraud and security threats), iTRUST WorkGroup (EU/FP6, addressing security and privacy issues that arise from the deployment of a global computing infrastructure through a trust-based security and privacy model), METATRO (a fleet-management and cargo-monitoring information system,
utilizing RFID technology, sensors and mobile networks), ESTIA (for security and penetration testing of internet sites and enterprise intranets), MILITIADES (implementing multi-layer techniques for attack detection systems), SecSPeer (designing secure and scalable peer-to-peer computing and communication systems), mVISION (providing video-streaming and surveillance services over cellular networks and phones), etc., (see: ). VTRIP has also developed secure and critical information systems and services, such as the integrated information system for managing and printing the secure new Greek Passports for the Greek Ministry of Public Order, the secure web-portal of the Greek Defense Ministry, and the secure banking portal of the Hellenic Commerce Bank. VTRIP is an active member of NESSI (Trust, Security and Dependability workgroup) and NEM (NMCD and SECurity clusters) European Technology Platforms and has contributed the concept of “Security Scalability” to their Strategic Research Agendas (SRAs).
VTRIP will contribute to CHOReOS: a) by leading and being the main contributor of WP8 (the “DynaRoute” use case), b) in the development of security middleware (for WP3), with emphasis on security, scalability and performance, and c) in the integration of the middleware within the CHOReOS IDRE (planned in WP5).
