Socio-technical Systems Engineering Institute of Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences

Vidzemes Augstskolas aģentūra “Sociotehnisku Sistēmu Inženierijas Institūts / Socio-technical Systems Engineering Institute of  Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences was founded in 2006.  It is a public funded scientific institution registered in the Register of Scientific institutions of Latvia. Research themes include: logistics information systems and RFID technologies; business process modelling and regional planning; hybrid and distributed simulation systems; e-democracy, a socio-technical evaluation and use of virtual and augmented reality in the training process. The logistics information systems and RFID laboratory was used for joint professional and academic research as a public-private partnership.  
The institute publishes international annual Proceedings of scientific articles “ICTE in Regional
Development”. 

Expertise brought to CHOReOS

Critical factors for the successful introduction of any technology, besides quality of the technical solution, are social factors.  Social factors are integral attributes of any technology. It is very important to plan for assessment of socio-technical factors to ensure successful technology transfer. The Socio-technical Systems Engineering Institute has a strong background in different aspects of simulation use and social factors estimation which will be used in CHOReOS towards that aim. 

Contribution to CHOReOS

The aim of SSII VIA research is to elaborate and use the simulation model exploiting system dynamics approach for socio-technical factors estimation of CHOReOS solutions.
